RADAR: Maria Renee Morales Garcia

„complexities in w(e)aves“

22.02. – 18.05.25

The visual artist Maria Renee Morales Garcia (born 1997 in Guatemala, lives and works in Bochum) is developing a new, site- specific work as a spatial montage. The artist completed her studies at the Münster Art Academy last year as a master student of Mariana Castillo Deball. She combines different materials and forms of expression in her installations: Ceramics, textiles, light and language are combined in a variety of ways in her artistic practices, but are also sometimes integrated into performances and workshops. The starting point is often individual observations, memories, biographical events and a preoccupation with the concept of identity, which the artist approaches from a decolonial and queer-feminist perspective.

Unlike previous projects in the RADAR exhibition series, the installation will not be accessible. Instead, the large window will be designed as a display side and the presentation will thus be explicitly conceived for the public space - without being part of this space itself. Passers-by and interested parties can view the installation through the shop window between the museum and the Kunstverein.
